The Life of a Dog Groomer

It is always such a joy to take on a pet as a client.

It is always such a joy to take on a pet as a client.

Our groomers start new clients with a free consultation. We love what we do and develop a good relationship with the pet, ensuring that it has a positive grooming experience. Pet owns always seem transformed after their pets first haircut. This is truly one of the most rewarding moments in the life of a pet groomer. Over the course of the first few grooming appointments, we provide the pet owner with information on how the grooming sessions are going. We start by working on table training and on finding the right haircut for the pet and the owners lifestyles. We educate our clients on how important it is to get on a good grooming schedule, which is also great preventative maintenance for your pet. We invest in maintaining your trust and continued grooming services into the future.

From your puppy's first visit we love watching it grow up. We'll cut and style the haircut to bring out the expression of the breed or capturing that cute expression of the mixed breeds with trendy styles. Haircuts evolve over time as the puppy’s structure develops and the coat texture changes. We'll maintain the perfect cut for your pup.

Over the years your puppy will develop into a dog that trusts us, their groomer. We also developed relationships with pet owners. So many of our clients tell us that they can’t even say my name or their dog will get so excited thinking it is grooming day! That’s a simply way to know know that we do our job right!

People don’t realize how hard it is for groomers. We love dogs as if they were our own. Many have been in our lives for up to 15 years or so. Unfortunately we out-live them them, just when they become super-loyal they become elderly and we see that.

As dogs do approach their senior years they can get a bit grumpy… similar to people. They don’t tolerate things like they used to.  And just like the elderly they also start to lose their hearing and their eyesight. But the trust with their their groomer is still there, they just become confused and and maybe a bit scared. Many seniors dogs have dental disease and are too old to have professional teeth cleaning performed. Their mouth has become esensitive and they are uncomfortable when you hold their chin or muzzle to groom their head. During this time it is important for us, as groomers, to have patience and understanding. This is when that cute little puppy that we've all enjoyed and spent so much time developing a relationship and trust with us may need us the most. Once you discover the perfect groomer for your pet, they will love the bond and will appreciate seeing their groomer throughout their life.

Long time pet clients are such a reward

So often when grooming long time pet clients, when using a dryer, older pets tend to have a "senior moment" where they will just start howling. When that occurs we turn off the dryer and give the dog a hug by holding them close until them calm down and regroup. This is very common with older senir pets and we pay attention to the changes in their behavior as they become more temperamental in their later years.

Scheduling older senior pets for slower days allows us to provide them with our full attention and extra patience is important to them. Allowing them to take a break, sitting down or laying down when needed. Changing our routine is okay to accommodate your pets needs. Just like when your pet was a puppy, your dogs haircut should be as important as your pets experience that they had with us.
